Poem: Reduced

Stalking the aisles

My keen eyes scan left and right

Humming electric tubes

Cast washed out, sickly light

Cool hands on the bar

Of my wire basket trolley

Still empty and bare

Some might think it folly

Darkness falls outside

My fellow hunters are few

Click of a price gun

Over best before dates due

Green clad guardian

Wields the discounting weapon

Try not to hover

But ready to descend upon

Yellow stickered prize

A spot in my freezer calls

Don’t care what you are

So long as your price tag falls

  1. I enjoyed to poem Chrissey it made me smile. Where did the idea come from? Are you the compulsive bargain hunter, or someone you know?

Another question, if it’s you, do you always go the the nearly expired stuff because of your historical leanings toward archaeology? 🙂

  2. I have been known to stalk the aisles, yes. Money has been a bit tight so it has become something of a habit recently. My parents are far worse than me!

Funnily enough I don’t feel the need to eat things I’ve excavated, no.
